For new folks here, The Treehouse is my attempt at reconstructing a theology after a long period of distancing myself from the Christian faith. Basically, I’m trying to say, “Here is what I believe now and here is why.” I’ve limited this section to paid subscribers to keep our conversations civil. Religion is a hot button, and a paywall keeps out internet trolls who only seek to roam around and spread chaos.
Currently, everything else on my Substack remains free — essays and new Dead Ringer chapters as well as the occasional guest post from writer friends and others.
Today I want to do a quick overview of the four gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John — by offering some background about context and the intended audiences, which matters very much. Buckle up. It’s a long one.
