Go here to read the previous post laying some of the groundwork for my series on talking about theology (fancy word, just means stuff about God and the systems of belief about the God of the Bible).
Look for the launch of this new page on Sunday, January 14th!
Weekly posts thereafter, ongoing conversation threads using the chat feature. (I’ll explain how that works as we get closer!)
I want to share big, basic concepts that are the lens through which I view the Bible which, even though it is a collection of many different pieces and kinds of writing over thousands of years, is a story with a clear and consistent theme.
Like Maria sang in The Sound of Music, “Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.”
I’ll share my starting assumptions and touch on what “canon” means and a little bit of information about different versions of the Bible.
(Oh. You didn’t know? Yeah, there are a number of different versions. We’ll talk about how and why that matters.)
Heads up — we are going super-wide here! My only agenda is to do some debunking and clarifying and a bit of educating, and see where that all goes. (Like, for example, did you know there are two different accounts of the Creation story in Genesis?)
The page will be available to paying subscribers only. That’s my attempt to preserve our comments and chat feature as safe spaces for honest and thoughtful conversation and open and forthright questions and doubts.
Still available for free: Dead Ringer chapters (getting close to the end and finding out who killed Rachel Roper!) and my occasional attempts at meaning-making via essays.
Got questions? Let me know. And please share with anyone you think would be interested! Any faith background or no faith background and anyone in between. C’mon! Let’s go!
